We need to appreciate that we have been placed in our part of the world for a purpose and not by some accident. Our placement in an environment where the sun shines 12 hours a day is a great thing. While we find ourselves in abundant sunshine and heat, others live in cold areas with permanent frost. In sunny Ghana, where daily sunshine is predictable, solar power should not be a luxury or a status symbol.
One 50 Wp PV module is enough to power four or five small fluorescent bulbs, a radio, and a 15-inch black-and-white television set for up to 5 hours a day.
